The First Church of Lorenzo
LorenzoFi
Unaltered creativity by people who don't compromise.
LorenzoFi: a free podcast app built by a podcaster. Original audio, untouched. Indie shows first. No ads in your ears.
I hate what podcast apps do to my audio. I painstakingly edit and mix and process my work to create my "sound." Then I hand it over to podcast apps like Overcast and Spotify so they can smash and compress and dumb down my work.
No one would buy a hamburger from a place that takes high quality ground beef and kicks it around on the floor a while before serving it. So why listen to your podcasts on apps that do the digital equivalent?
I built LorenzoFi because I was tired of having my work wrecked to save someone's server space.
What you hear on LorenzoFi is exactly what the creator intended.
It's early: LorenzoFi is in public testing, web first.
Why FCOL sounds best here
- The original file, untouched. LorenzoFi streams my file straight from my host. It never re-encodes, compresses, normalizes, or inserts ads.
- You can see it. Every episode gets a quality badge showing the format and bitrate. No taking my word for it.
- No ads stuffed in your ears. Nothing gets inserted between you and the show.
- Chapters and transcripts. Jump to the part you want, or read along.
Try it in 30 seconds
- Open lorenzofi.com in any browser.
- Search The First Church of Lorenzo.
- Hit Follow.
- Optional: add it to your phone's home screen so it behaves like an app.
Bring your other shows
I'm not asking you to abandon your other podcasts. I'm needy, not delusional. Import your subscriptions with OPML from Pocket Casts, Overcast, or whatever you use now, and everything comes with you.
And because indie shows first is the whole point, there are featured independent, creator-owned shows in every category. Go find your next favorite.
What you get today
- Search any podcast and follow it. Your Shelf and Keep Listening pick up right where you left off, and the queue lines up what's next.
- A sleep timer is built in. Lock-screen controls work, and played tracking remembers where you got to.
- Share a link that starts at the exact timestamp you want someone to hear.
- New-episode counts, plus push notifications only if you opt in.
- Support-this-show buttons send you to the creator's own links. The money goes straight to them.
- Make a show? Claim it via email.

Coming later: podcast hosting
We're planning simple, honest hosting for indie shows that keeps the same promises as the app. Your files are served exactly as you uploaded them, with no re-encoding. Your RSS feed stays open and yours. There are no ads inserted into your audio. It will be audio-only, and you'll always be free to leave with a redirect to your new host.
It's in the planning stage right now. We're not taking signups yet. Interested? Stay tuned.
